About Sailing Life

Dan Ohana sailing off the coast of Western Australia

Hi! I'm Dan Ohana and I run Sailing Life. I first learned to sail at the age of eight in the Seychelles at the Seychelles Sail Training Scheme, and I've been hooked ever since.

I hold a Master < 24m NC and RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate, and I'm a former RYA Cruising Instructor. I've worked as a skipper aboard Coral Breeze in the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area (Coral Bay), and aboard Capella with Charter 1, running snorkel tours to Rottnest Island, Western Australia.

Sailing Life began here in Western Australia, shaped by the local sailing culture and coastline. What started as a small idea on the WA coast has grown into a modern platform helping yacht buyers, sellers and cruisers across Australia.

Sailing Life started with a simple idea: to create a place where sailors in Australia (and beyond) can easily find yachts, marinas and practical cruising information without digging through scattered websites and social media groups. It's part marketplace, part local guide, and part excuse for me to keep talking about boats.

The orange and blue colours of Sailing Life were inspired by Western Australia — where the deep orange desert tones of the northwest meets the turquoise Indian Ocean along one of the world’s most striking coastlines.

The site is still evolving, but the goals are simple:

  • Make it easier to buy and sell sailing yachts.
  • Highlight marinas, anchorages and Australia's local cruising gems.
  • Share real-world tips, guides and resources for newer sailors and coastal cruisers.

If you'd like to list your boat, suggest a marina, or just talk sailing, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for being part of Sailing Life.
