Geographe Bay, Western Australia – cruising area

Eagle Bay

Geographe Bay, Western Australia

Overview

Eagle Bay is one of the most scenic anchorages in WA. Located near Dunsborough and sheltered by Cape Naturaliste, it offers remarkably calm water in summer and an inviting sandy beach.

A favourite for overnight stops in settled weather.

Anchorage

  • Depth: 4–10m
  • Bottom: Clean sand, excellent holding
  • Protection: Best in easterlies and light northerlies
  • Hazards: Shallow shelves near the rocky points

Because it's wide and gently shelving, Eagle Bay feels spacious even during holidays.

Things to Do

  • Swim or snorkel the northern reef
  • Walk the Meelup–Dunsborough coastal trail
  • Enjoy stunning sunsets over Geographe Bay

Notes for Cruisers

In strong afternoon seabreezes, chop can wrap in from the west, but usually remains comfortable.
