Overview

Jurien Bay is one of the safest and most convenient stops along the Mid-West coast of WA. The man-made harbour provides secure protection from swell and wind, making it a welcome refuge on longer passages north or south.

It’s a popular base for fishing, diving and exploring the nearby Jurien Bay Marine Park.


Anchorage

Inside the Harbour

  • Depth: 3–5m
  • Bottom: Sand
  • Protection: Excellent from all directions
  • Hazards: Commercial traffic, shallow patches near the breakwater

Outside the Harbour (for brief stays)

  • Depth: 6–12m
  • Bottom: Sand
  • Protection: Good in easterlies; exposed to swell
  • Hazards: Rolling swell even on calm days

The inside harbour offers the best comfort and security for cruising yachts.

  • Many cafés and a supermarket within walking distance
  • Good access to mechanics and minor repairs

Things to Do

  • Visit the limestone caves and coastal trails
  • Snorkel or dive the Jurien Bay Marine Park
  • Explore the reefs around Favourite and Boullanger Islands

Notes for Cruisers

Jurien Bay is one of the few Mid-West ports offering true all-weather protection. A great staging ground for heading north toward Dongara, Geraldton or the Abrolhos Islands.
