Overview
Jurien Bay is one of the safest and most convenient stops along the Mid-West coast of WA. The man-made harbour provides secure protection from swell and wind, making it a welcome refuge on longer passages north or south.
It’s a popular base for fishing, diving and exploring the nearby Jurien Bay Marine Park.
Anchorage
Inside the Harbour
- Depth: 3–5m
- Bottom: Sand
- Protection: Excellent from all directions
- Hazards: Commercial traffic, shallow patches near the breakwater
Outside the Harbour (for brief stays)
- Depth: 6–12m
- Bottom: Sand
- Protection: Good in easterlies; exposed to swell
- Hazards: Rolling swell even on calm days
The inside harbour offers the best comfort and security for cruising yachts.

- Many cafés and a supermarket within walking distance
- Good access to mechanics and minor repairs

- Visit the limestone caves and coastal trails
- Snorkel or dive the Jurien Bay Marine Park

Notes for Cruisers
Jurien Bay is one of the few Mid-West ports offering true all-weather protection. A great staging ground for heading north toward Dongara, Geraldton or the Abrolhos Islands.
