Overview
Longreach Bay is one of Rottnest Island's most popular and accessible anchorages, located on the island's northern coast between Geordie Bay and Thomson Bay. Offering beautiful white sand, clear turquoise water and good protection from southerly winds, it is a favourite destination for cruising yachts throughout the warmer months.
Longreach Bay is well positioned for exploring the island. A short walk leads to Geordie Bay, while walking and cycling paths provide easy access to nearby beaches, lookouts and the Rottnest Island settlement. The sheltered waters also make the bay popular for swimming, paddleboarding and snorkelling.
Protection is generally good in southerly weather, but the bay becomes exposed to northerly winds and swell. Conditions can change quickly, so weather forecasts should always be checked before planning an overnight stay.
